For 6 long years we were told that the GOP would rid the nation of the vile socialist monstrosity of Obamacare.
- The GOP said they needed the House to get it done and it came to pass.
- The GOP then said they needed the Senate to get it done and it to came to pass.
- The GOP then said they needed the White House to get it done and it came to pass.
Now, with it in control of all of the government, the GOP now claims it cannot accomplish a task it has promised for 6 long years.
With a continence very much like a toddler having a temper tantrum, the GOP has decided it just doesn’t want to do what is has promised for all this time.
So, what are we to conclude from all of this?
Were they lying to us all these years or have they just gone wobbly?
Do they stand on principle or are they merely lusting for power?
Do they really stand for liberty or are they just a more efficient version of the Left?
Do they really stand for liberty or are they just another variation of the left promising to run it’s grandiose schemes more efficiently?
The GOP has one of the great opportunities of history, a reversal of another progressive constriction around the cause of liberty.
The time period could either be a short respite from the socialist left’s inexorable quest for power. Or it could be a change in direction heralding the end of line from the modern world’s hideous experiment in collective ideology.
The GOP can either bend to the temporary vicissitudes of a political life and the false promise of power of running a bureaucratic behemoth more efficiently or it can return the limited government principles that lead it to greatness in the first place.
It can take this window of opportunity for greatness or sign it’s own death warrant, for most the choice should be obvious.
